"COWBOY STYLE" Business Owners

Just had a discussion session with Jetson Hoo*** & Alex Wong** about the topic of "Where, What & How to Cut and turn your F&B challenges in 30 days with COVID-19?"

**Alex Wong, an Entrepreneur and Accountant (Australia), the Founder of In-Tune Business Services specialising in Finance & HR Outsourcing for SMEs.

***Jetson Hoo, an Entrepreneur and Director of Operations of Serapi Group.

Many people, even at this time, are still confused with the procedure of implementing temporary lay-off or retrenchment. Some even implement pay cut in an ignorant and arbitrary manner without conforming or accordance to the employment and industrial law. Like what Alex just said, COWBOY STYLE. What they did is just making decision to implement pay cut without any two-way negotiation. With that, I can foresee many industrial disputes will arise after MCO.

Even worse, I’ve seen some business owners are abusing this current situation to implement dismissal under guise of retrenchment. This makes situation even worse because the they did not see the bigger issue of unfair or constructive dismissal suit come against them after MCO.

On the other hand, pathetically some business owners are not familiar with the procedures of handling effective cost cutting measures on employee’s salary, they are not familiar with the law, they do not know what steps to be taken, and this caused them to afraid to take necessary steps to reduce their operational cost (i.e the salary). It is quite sad because they have lost their opportunity to take helpful measures that can help them in their business by reducing the fixed costs.

I urge all the F&B owners, to consider to outsource especially the above area of cost cutting to the specialist that handles these areas.

For example, One (1) Company can have Three (3) person in the finance department running the portfolios. Their salary will already cost around RM10,000.00, but the costs on top of these staffs include computers and allowances and EPF that will make the cost totalling the sum up to RM20,000 per month. So, why not outsourcing the finance service to some specialist that may be only charging around few thousand ringgit per month?

What I want to deliver today is to make correct decision accordance with the law, or else you are exposing your business to unfair dismissal disputes. Yes I know, working on employee is the hardest especially on top of the current situation we many other different issues.

So, please go to the correct person for solutions. #pjjlawyering #hosehpjj #phangpartners #pnp #changinglives #juststayathome
